Christmas Caramel Corn

6 qts. popped corn
1 c. margarine
2 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. corn syrup

In a 2 quart saucepan, boil together margarine, sugar and corn syrup for 5 minutes; remove from heat and add cream of tartar, soda and vanilla. While foaming, pour over popcorn quickly. Spread on 2 greased cookie sheets. Bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes. Store in air tight containers.
